The people of Canterbury are engaged in a myriad of ministries and
programs that build the church and serve the broader community.
Community Service

Meals on Wheels
Canterbury provides meals for 150 people in the Tuscaloosa area every
fourth Sunday of a month. Volunteers are needed to prepare the
food and deliver it. Volunteers are especially needed for

Deacon's Deli
Through the
generosity of parishioners and friends, Canterbury serves the area's
needy with food resources and other forms of assistance. Contributions
of groceries or cash are greatly needed and always appreciated. For more

The Gallery at Canterbury
Canterbury offers area artists a small gallery to exhibit their work
to the community. Exhibits typically hang for one month.

Groups for Prayer, Study, & Service

Episcopal Church Women
The ECW is a multi-faceted service
and fundraising group serving the Chapel, the local community, the
Diocese, and international organizations. For more

Daughter's of the King
The Daughters are an order of
committed women who undertake a Rule of Life that includes prayer and
service. A Daughter pledges herself to a lifelong program or
prayer, service, and evangelism to spread the Kingdom of God and
strengthen the spiritual life of her parish. For more

Brotherhood of St. Andrew
The Brotherhood is an international
organization of men in the Anglican Communion dedicated to prayer,
study, and service. Its programs are opportunities for men to
share in discussions of their Christian faith and to study the Bible.
The Brotherhood engages in a number of service projects each year. |
Worship

Altar Guild
Both men and women, members of the
Altar Guild look after the physical needs of the church interior with
particular concern for the altar and its furnighings. Apprentice
instruction is available for volunteers. For more information,

Flower Guild
The Flower Guild is a volunteer
group that is responsible for arranging the flowers for Sundays and
special occasions. Two people working together normally
accomplish this each week and current members will assist newer
members. Presently each two person team is assigned once every

Acolytes
A ministry for young people aged 8
years and older, acolytes assist the clergy in the worship of God.
Acolytes carry the processional cross and torches and serve at
the altar. Training in provided routinely. For more

Choir
Music is a vital aspect of the
spiritual and liturgical life at Canterbury. The Choir sings at
the 10:30 AM Sunday service as well as a number of other occasional
services throughout the year. During the academic year, rehearsals are
held on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM and on Wednesdays at 7:00 PM.

Lectors
Lectors read the Old and the New Testament lessons in the Holy
Eucharist services at Canterbury. By lending their voices to the
proclamation of God's Word, they enrich and enliven the liturgies. For more

Lay Eucharistic Ministers (Chalice Bearers)
At the recommendation of the
Chaplain to the Vestry and with the approval of the Bishop, parish
members may serve as chalice bearers, administering the cup in services
of the Holy Eucharist. Chalice bearers may also be asked to take
Communion to home-bound members of the parish. For more
